FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Hunger is a growing problem in our area and around the nation. In 2020, the number of persons receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits jumped to 44 million from 36 million in 2019 Americans. 1.8 million of those are in Pennsylvania. The hunger problem is often invisible to those of us who have enough food. God's Word calls upon us to help those who are hungry. E.L.M. responds to this most basic need with distribution of food and groceries to people who are homeless, low income, unemployed, under-employed, mothers and children and those struggling in poverty alone, without families. The E.L.M. food bank serves more than 800 families per month. Food distribution is held every Saturday, 9:00am at our downtown center at New Bethany E.C. Church in Allentown.
